Goodyear has equipped cars in the LMGT3 category at the Le Mans car race with tyres made of 33% sustainable materials.
The tyres have been produced at a factory in Germany and a total of 7,250 tyres have been made for the 23 LMGT3 cars that will be racing.
This is the highest ratio of sustainable materials ever used in GT racing. The tyres are made with natural resins, carbon black, polymers, and recycled steel.
They have been designed to have increased endurance, allowing cars to use one set of tyres over five full tankfuls of fuel. This is equivalent to three times the length of a Formula 1 circuit.
Goodyear is the exclusive tyre supplier for the LMGT3 category in the FIA WEC World Championship and has been taking steps to reduce the carbon footprint of its endurance racing programme.
