Banca Comercială Romana (BCR) launched Life-Lab.ro, a digital platform for teachers who want to teach financial education in their classes, no matter what subject they teach. This is a response to the growing need for educational resources that help develop financial literacy among Romanian students.
The platform is the result of a pilot program implemented in more than 12 schools in Romania over the last two years. In that time, the program has shown that it can effectively integrate financial education into the curriculum through innovative and interdisciplinary methods.Because it has had such a positive impact on teachers and students, this initiative is now being rolled out nationwide.
It will provide free access to educational resources for teachers across the country.Among students, perceptions of financial education have improved significantly. At first, 62% of high school students thought that financial education was just about managing money. Now, the number is 48%.
This shows that students understand the concept better. 78% of students want to learn to save. In addition, 49% of students want more hands-on financial education activities in their classes.
To get these educational materials, teachers need to sign up for an account on the Life-Lab.ro platform and download the resources for their subject.
Also, teachers who use Life-Lab resources in their classes can participate in training sessions, special events, and a national contest that rewards the most creative ways to integrate financial education in the classroom.
